Remove Barriers

Our Mission.

Our mission is crystal clear: to create a future where accessibility is not just a choice, but a universal right that everyone can enjoy.

While our platform and outreach programmes are still being rolled out, our long-term vision is firmly in place. We aim to reinvest all future resources into impactful initiatives, supporting individuals, organisations, and communities in adopting inclusive, ethical, and innovative approaches to accessibility, thereby ensuring our sustainability and future impact.
Through technology, certification and professional education, we aspire to build the infrastructure of an accessible world. The IOA Foundation is not only a steward of this mission; it is a catalyst for meaningful, lasting change.

Our Three Core Pillars

Three central pillars guide the IOA Foundation’s work. Together, these initiatives form the blueprint for our mission to embed accessibility into everyday life through education, technology and systemic change.

1. Institute of Accessibility (IOA)

The IOA is positioned to become a global centre of excellence for accessibility leadership. We aim to offer professional training, accreditation and advocacy that elevate the standards of inclusive design across industries and borders. Through our future educational programmes and policy partnerships, the IOA will equip professionals and organisations to lead with competence and credibility in accessibility.

2. AccessFirst Initiative (AFI Certification)

The AccessFirst Initiative is being developed as a globally recognised accessibility certification programme. The forthcoming AFI Certified mark will enable organisations to demonstrate compliance with clear, rigorous standards, building public trust and driving continuous improvement. The certification process will include expert-led assessments, practical guidance and public recognition for organisations committed to meaningful inclusion.

3. The Alclusio and Hey Al Platforms:

These platforms are not just technological solutions, but integral components of our mission. They are innovative AI solutions, driven by IBM and built on the WatsonX ecosystem to deliver intuitive, accessible and adaptive support.

Alclusio serves as the centralised AI “brain” and data core for the entire ecosystem, consolidating clinical insights, accessibility standards and real-world feedback into a dynamic, verified knowledge base that underpins support tools and sets a benchmark for global accessibility compliance.

Hey Al, powered by Alclusio’s intelligence, is evolving into an agentic AI, capable of empathetic, proactive interaction and self-directed assistance. It empowers users to manage daily life and digital environments with greater independence.
